Bump-to-Pop: The 植松 (Uematsu) Family

いつまでも愛してる!
I’ll love you forever.

Living in such unprecedented times has definitely made me reflect so much more on the simple blessings of love, family, and laughter! As it wreaks havoc in the world, and with so many facing job loss, it reminds me to not take things for granted.

This bump-to-pop session would be one I would remember for the longest time. It is one of my first sessions post the Malaysian Movement Control Order (MCO), during the Recovery MCO. I never felt so much gratefulness to once again hold the weight of the camera, coo at a teeny tiny human being, and to laugh and celebrate together with my clients as they welcome a gorgeous tiny new addition.

This family got in touch with me to get some portraits done, before they were scheduled to move back to Japan after spending some time in KL. Their cheeky little 2 year old stole my heart with his infectious laughter, and beautiful smiley almond eyes! He was such an energiser bunny, who couldn’t really stop talking. I love LOVE LOVE little Japanese childen, they are just so very independant, and super cute when they speak.

This was also my last session, before the COVID-19 Movement Control Order came into force. So thankful I managed to photograph them before they flew.

Thank you so much for having me, Matsuo-san. Wishing you and yours a very safe trip back to Japan!

‘お姉さん。。。お姉さん。。’ もう30歳になったから、子供ちゃん ‘お姉さん’ 言う時、きもちがよかった!^_^
Onaesan, jie, chichi... whatever language it’s in... it always feels so good when a little kid insist on calling you ‘big sister’.

Most of the time when I photograph families, I feel like for that one hour, we are really good friends hanging out, and having fun together.

Time just flew by with the gorgeous Yamaguchi family. who were so natural and easy to photograph. I watched Rikku-chan fish, take care of his sister on the playground, and even had a little scare when he ran up to me with a dragonfly he caught. #ohmyheart.

Can I please have more play dates like these?
