The Millest Family

The ones with the most generous open hearts - photographing the Millests gave me heart eyes the entire session. You can always hear and see this family in church. They love on people so fiercely. We are so honoured they were our pastors, even for a short while.

This session, photographed right before they headed home to the UK is definitely one of my favourites!

Family waving bye
Hello smiley bub!

The smiliest little bub, who crawls at lightning speed! I used to not like photographing in the studio. Of late though, with the crazy heat, I’ve grown pretty fond of the studio, especially one which is simply designed, with beautiful natural light streaming in.

The Mah Family

The Mahs will always have a very special place in my heart. Not only are we friends, but they were also one of my first few clients! I first photographed them when Ryan was just a teeny tiny little man. I love that he has completely changed from that shy little bub, to a young man who is able to hold his own in a conversation. As for his little sister, she sure is a character, that made me LOL too many times!

And then there were three boys! I first photographed the gorgeous Flynns back when I was just starting to focus on family portraits four to five years ago. I remember back then there were only two boys - one a very smiley baby, and the other a doting big brother. I had the best time with everyone, and there wasn’t a dull moment! I’ve said this before, and I would say it again, I absolutely love watching families grow!

Watch them grow: 2017

The Keng Family

The lens through which you see your childhood

Malaysia Family Photography - The Keng Family

Ever since I began photographing families, this precious family has been doing their yearly portraits with me. There is just something about families trusting me and growing together with me, that makes my heart sing. To be able to create memories, to grow with them, to connect and get to know their little ones - this really reminds me of why I love doing what I do.

The 김 (Kim) Family

The thing about dark skies, and rainy days is that,
if you wait long enough, the sun will shine again.

It has been 5 weeks since the Malaysian government enforced Movement Control Order; and more than a month since I stepped out of the house. As much as my introverted soul loves it, I must say cabin fever is beginning to set in. The only thing keeping me going, besides cooking (as if I was back in uni, far away from mom’s comfort food), is looking at these happy smiley photos.

Hope everyone is doing well, staying indoors, and keeping sane. I know that it’s tough at the moment, but little by little, we will weather the storm together.

The Kim family was here on Lunar New Year holiday from Australia and Korea. The adorable little boy, and his doting family were just absolute naturals in front of my camera.

This family got in touch with me to get some portraits done, before they were scheduled to move back to Japan after spending some time in KL. Their cheeky little 2 year old stole my heart with his infectious laughter, and beautiful smiley almond eyes! He was such an energiser bunny, who couldn’t really stop talking. I love LOVE LOVE little Japanese childen, they are just so very independant, and super cute when they speak.

This was also my last session, before the COVID-19 Movement Control Order came into force. So thankful I managed to photograph them before they flew.

Thank you so much for having me, Matsuo-san. Wishing you and yours a very safe trip back to Japan!

Kate is ONE

A day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered.

Children comes in all different sizes, likes, dislikes, and temperaments. When photographing them, I really enjoy getting to know these individual personalities, and try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. Little Kate was a serious little tyke with the cutest smiles - when it happens! She definitely kept us all entertained with her antics!

Singapore Family: Off to Explore

there’s a whole world out there
waiting to be explored!

“Hello, what’s your name? Do you like bubbles? Let’s take some photos first, then we’ll play bubbles!” Usually this is all that is needed for kids to warm up to me.

Occasionally though, I’ll have the super shy, hide-behind-mummy little ones. If that is your kid, breathe, don’t stress! I find that if we as adults start stressing, cajoling or even threatening, the kids also become stressed, and the session wouldn’t be a good experience for everyone.

Let them be kids, we’ll sit, chat, have some cuddles, and eventually, I’ll become less of a stranger, and slowly but surely, smiles will come.

This is my second time photographing this little girl and her family. She is quite shy, but once she warms up, her smiles comes very easily, and she’s the cutest little explorer! The last time I visited the Chinese Garden must have been more than 20 years ago, it has changed so much! It now has so much activities for the kid, and also the child-at-heart to explore and engage with nature.
