The Keng Family

Love is about growing together,
learning about each other,
and not giving up.

The Kengs Malaysia Family Photographer.jpg

The Kengs annual family portrait this time, saw the cheerful little now-3-year-old miss exploring, and having a little bit of fun in the park. She was joined by her baby brother, who was really smiley, with easy chuckles. I love watching families grow, and spending time with them, picking up where we left off, and getting to know the growing little ones.

Watch them grow: 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017

The Keng Family : + 1

.. our family is now complete ...

When Pying contacted me about their annual family portrait, and said 'we've got one more this year', I was completely over the moon! Instead of having it outdoors, we opted to have an in-home session instead - where big sister was free to roam around, and everyone was comfy.

The annual Keng portraits: 20142015, 2016

Family Portrait: The Wongs

Happiness is...
a BIG, CHAOTIC family!

A little boy, a little girl, a set of twin baby boys, their parents, their grandparents... I enjoyed every minute - yes even the sweaty ones - spent photographing, this loud, boisterous, and very friendly family. Their love and joy overflowed, and made me smile as I photographed them. There was never a dull moment!

Family Portrait: The Chews

Families are like fudge,
mostly sweet, with a few nuts.

"Hello, welcome!" that was Juin's first words to me.

When my husband first recommended that we tried a new cafe in Uptown, I was a little skeptical about the coffee it served (#coffeesnob). Little did I know that it would become one of our favourite cafes.

As I ingested a huge amount of coffee in our countless (almost once-every-two-days) coffee trips, a friendship began to form and grow with this very lovable, gorgeous inside out barista girl, Juin. Through our conversations, her love for her family shone through. Her face lit up as she spoke about the antics her many nieces and nephews get up to.

So when Juin asked me if I could take her family portraits, I couldn't wait to meet everyone.

Cake Smash: Baby C is ONE

"Have big dreams, you will grow into them."

Within the first 10 minutes of our session, the bubbly gorgeous miss C was already smiling, and crawling up to me, to touch my camera. Ah.. babies turning one.... just finding her feet, she breaks into the biggest smile when her parents cheered as she stood up unassisted, Babies learning how to walk are simply the cutest!

Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.
- C.S. Lewis

A smiley inquisitive baby who breaks out in the hugest grin and infectious laughter, when she sees a block of ice; a handsome big brother who is full of the cheekiest smiles - each unique in their own beautiful way.

Family Portrait: The Ikings

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible — the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
- Virginia Satir

2 newborns, 2 gorgeous little girls, and 8 adults - I love LOVE love large families. I also love families who are unafraid to show affection and just genuinely enjoy being together. After photographing Michelle-Ann's large photogenic in-laws (The Suppiah Clan), I was really glad when she contacted me again, this time to photograph her family, who were visiting from Sabah.

The portraits are even more precious, as I found out a couple of months later, that the late patriarch of the family, Mozes M Iking II, passed on peacefully. RIP.

Family Portrait: The Chuas

Family faces are magic mirrors looking at people who belong to us,
we see the past, present, and future.

Easily one of the coolest families I've photographed! I love photographing families who aren't afraid to just get really comfortable in nature, a baby who lights up at the sight of food, and is just keen to explore everything around her.

Family Portrait: The Lees

It doesn't matter how big your house is
it matters that there is love in it.

With a ballerina for a mummy, it was no wonder this little tyke was really flexible, as he discovered his feet, when he put on shoes for the very first time. I especially loved all of baby's very cute outfits, which according to the father, Edward, was all picked out by his wife. Excellent taste!!

After the session, Edward sent me a very lovely email:

I take photos too BUT the photoshoot with you was awesome AND the photos are gorgeous. It really puts a big smile on my face each n everytime I see the photos. Best of all I'm in most of the photos this time and had great fun just chilling out with my family at the park not having to bother with camera settings n lighting! I cannot remember when was the last time I had a smile that lasted so so long, and it keeps coming back over n over again throughout the day! : ) Bless you Samantha.
