Singapore Maternity: J+D

I will hold you in my heart, until I can hold you in my arms.

Hello Bump 32.jpg

Starting the year with this beautiful couple, I photographed early last December!

I believe that women are at their prettiest when carrying their baby. I love their gorgeous glow, and that air of excited expectancy, as they await their bub.

You know how some people, just vibes with you?

When Joanne messaged me on instagram about a session in Singapore, I felt an almost instant connection. Meeting her, and photographing her little soon-to-be expanding family, made me just so very happy. I was reminded, that... this... this... is the reason why I choose to do what I do. I laughed so much, and just had so much fun with them. Thank you, love, not too long now!

Bump-to-Pop: The Khoo Family

she's a combination of sugar, spice,
sunshine and stardust.

I met Lina in church when we were both studying in Perth. She is somebody who just radiates warmth and friendship. As we were both in different universities then, we gradually lost contact as life took over. I was really glad when Liang whom I met through my then boyfriend-now-husband, brought Lina to visit our Young Adults Bible Study Fellowship class. Fast forward a few years later, it was such an honour and joy to photograph them as they grow another member. Baby E is the cutest little thing, with easy smiles, and the chubbiest cheeks.

and suddenly
ALL the love songs were about you.

I cannot even begin to write about how much I loved this set of photographs. J + A is one of the sweetest, most loving, and most musical couple I know. It was truly an honour to be invited into their very homey space as they prepare for their little bub... and a joy to get to know the little bub who has them irresistible cheeks, easy laughter, and cheeky smile. #smitten

Hello Bump: Cheang Maternity

A grand adventure is about to begin
- Winnie the Pooh -

Tim and Suwen are dear friends. We've been through so many things together. I've also photographed their engagement session, as well as coordinated their wedding. We usually do boardgames and coffee together... #itsbeensolong! When we were hanging out one day, we decided to do a quick 20-minute maternity portrait session with them.

Family Portrait: The Ngs

Life is always a rich and steady time when you are waiting for something to happen or to hatch.
- EB White

An inquisitive two year old, a warm and cheerful papa, and a very fit expecting mama.

From the beginning, the Ngs were just so much fun to be around. I was particularly impressed with the glowing mama-of-two-to-be, who was almost full term, yet was game to try all sorts of poses. I later found out that the family practices yoga. I got so excited that I asked if I could incorporate some of the poses into our session.

Hello Bump: Iman + Shazan

It's the most powerful creation to have life growing inside of you, there is no bigger gift.

At this time of writing, this gorgeous and warm couple would have been parents for almost 6 months! Iman and Shazan are such beautiful people. They had a good sense of humor, and it was very obvious how in love they were, and how excited they are about welcoming their very first baby!

It was so special being invited to capture their love, reminiscing about Perth (Murdoch Uni for the win!), and getting some slobber on from their motley crew of dogs - that Great Dane is all sorts of cool!

Hello Bump: Tan Maternity Portrait

Pregnancy is like the beginning of all things
wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.

Sutji and I go way back. Back when singing 'Majulah Singapura' was a daily routine, when uniforms were the norm, and when $2-a-day pocket money is enough to get you a full meal at the school canteen. She was a year my junior in secondary school.

This gorgeous soon-to-be mother-of-two is someone who understands completely how I feel about the constant moving around - uprooting and setting roots, leaving friends and family and creating new bonds. We share a very similar story, despite spending our formative years in Singapore, we were but foreigners - she from Indonesia, and I, Malaysia; moved to Australia for uni - she in Melbourne, I, Perth; and finally, settling down in Malaysia - she after getting married to a Malaysian.

When she got in touch with me for a family shoot, I was honoured. The hour flew by as we caught up quickly with each other about life. It was also my first time meeting the beautiful cheeky chocolate loving little Miss H. I cannot wait to see number 2, who will be making his debut next month. If he looks anything like his older sister, I'm sure he will be a handsome little tyke, primed to set all the ladies hearts aflutter.

Bump-to-Pop: The Yees
Children are a Gift of God
Psalms 127:3

Love is something that I love celebrating, and strikes a deep chord in my heart. I tear a little when I see, the loving exchange between a daddy and his little girl before he walks her down the aisle. My heart misses a beat when the groom claps eyes on his bride for the first time and cannot take his eyes off her; the moment they make their forever pledge. I get butterflies in my tummy when a couple share their hopes and dreams, as they wait patiently for their little one  to say: "Hello World"; and the moment baby is born, how they are just firmly wrapped around baby's little fingers.

Cheryl and Robert are dear friends of ours, who got married a couple of months after us. So when Cheryl shared that she was pregnant, I was over-the-moon elated for them. I also knew immediately that I want to photograph them, cause they were just tremendously beautiful people, both inside and out. This series of photograph, was taken in their gorgeous new home.

When Cheryl gave birth, I remembered being in the vicinity of the hospital, and going over to say hello to the less than a day old baby C. She was the tiniest little perfect human being, and you could tell she had her whole family smitten.

Fast forward six/seven months, we finally managed to have a family portrait session.  By then baby was a sweet smiley little girl. #theygrowupwaytoofast!

Bump-to-Pop: The Lows
Planes, trains, trucks and toys There's nothing quite like little boys!

My meeting with the beautiful Janice was a completely random one. We used to work in the same organisation, with her office a few doors down from mine. With her 5-inch stilettos, super nice dresses, I felt an immediate connection with her, one of the kindred kind.

She sent me an email one day, after a chance meeting at the corridor "Hey, I notice you like shoes, you can go shop for branded shoes, at a fraction of the cost, on this website."

Suffice to say, that one email cemented our friendship. I remembered how she was glowing with happiness, when she told me that she was expecting. Being married for 5 years, they have been trying quite hard for a baby. To cut the long difficult journey story short, this baby was definitely a blessing. I watched in fascination as her tummy grew! And man... it grew!

I met Jan's husband, Benjamin for the very first time at the baby shower. But it wasn't until Jan popped, and while doing baby portraits, that I really got to know him.

Someone who has a love for shoes and everything nice and pretty (in a manly way, of course!), who diligently plans out what baby will wear during the photo shoot, the first thing Ben offered me as I walked into their house, in the wee hours of the morning, was a cup of brewed coffee! In that split second, I knew he and I would be fast friends.

With super awesome parents, I was very excited to see Baby C... and he didn't disappoint with his myriad expressions that made my biological clock go a mile a minute.
